No one said it was going to be this hard!

I don't know if it it just a holiday thing, but this little cutie pie has turned into a monster since we have come back from holiday. I know there is not the normal routine around her at the moment as we are in the middle of school holidays but oh my god!

  • She's stroppy.
  • She's showing off!
  • She's tired in the day as she is not going to bed until 9.30, even though I am doing the normal routine an she is in bed for 7.30.
  • She almost a little hyper active at times.
  • She's wanting 100% of my attention.
  • She's not listening, I am forever counting to 5 to get things done.
  • She's got to have the last word.
  • She's been getting up to mischief and destroying her bedroom.

Things are a little weird around her at moment in the fact that her daddy is working a lot at the moment but he is coming home every night but not until after she is gone to bed. This has happened before as hubbo works for himself. But she seems to be really missing him. Things have got that bad around her I have arranged for her to start at a nursery school every Thursday afternoon starting tomorrow. Both Grandparents have gone off the radar at the moment in terms of offering to have her, I am sure if I asked they would but I won't. I even went to meet an old friend on Monday for a few hours and little dear was that bad, she said " What's happened to her". I was not upset with my friend saying it I was upset by what she had said, because it was so true.

I'm not asking for miracle cures or anything here I just wanted to get it off my chest as its a big thing in my life at the moment.

Thanks for listening!

Sounds exactly like what my 5 yr old is like at the mo, its since we bought a house in April and hubby has been down there most nights working on it and its really effected him, of course like you, its us mums who have to deal with it! We move in on Sat so fingers crossed he will calm down....children are so funny in the way that they need routine arent they? claire x

I remember that happening when my No. 1 son reached the terrible twos! I didn't know what had hit me and I was pregnant with No.2 at the time which made things harder. I was panicking about how I'd cope with a stroppy toddler and a newborn. It will pass, don't worry, they all go through it.

I'm sorry your finding things difficult, Emily used to have awful tantrums I used to go in another room to take 10mins out she's improved loads now. But I have Elliott starting now! Keep your chin up think happy thoughts and take time out if only 5mins it does help!

Oh bless you ! No easy answer but you'll weather the storm. Hopefully nursery will break the routine and your little one will be much happier and easier.

I have friends that have been through similar and it's difficult to watch as you feel helpless and don't know what to do or say to help. We have been extremely lucky with Boo (so far) but I can't help thinking that maybe we can't be that lucky and she'll turn into a demon teenager .... :)

Mine used to be like that about change - coming back from holiday was always one time they would be difficult for a week or so. I have to say that now they are 8 and 6 things are much calmer and on an even keel. I'm sure that things will improve, but it is horrible at the time. Routine definitely helps. Make sure you enjoy your Thursday break by putting your feet up with a coffee rather than trying to fit in heaps of things. If you've had a break you'll find it easier to manage the tough times. Good luck
